Old, Bad Habits
I’ve never mentioned this before - but I play poker. I mostly play live and have a good ROI. One of the problems I have is online poker - I used to play back in 2007, banned myself in December for a year after it was taking too much time that I wanted to put into blogging.
Oh, and I was also a losing player - I donked about $500 total in online poker. So I said better quit before it becomes dangerous as well.
A few days ago I got hooked again, after playing on a table with few of my friends I went into the poker site, logged into my account, and deposited $200. I didn’t even remember blocking that account.
Wait, my account is blocked until December 2008, right?
Right. But somehow I was able to deposit. I lost $100 of those and stopped before I lose the other 100. I then logged in today, only to find out that I can’t login. I called customer support - and they said that it’s because my account was blocked.
I took a long breath, and instead of shouting at the representative - I said “Okay, guess I will be back on December!”
Even though this poker room’s act was unethical to say the least, I really can’t afford to be messing with my online gambling addictions right now, and who knows - hopefully I won’t even log in December.
I’m finally back at making around 4 figures with my online assets, I don’t need this unnecessary pressure…
Getting Things Done Feels So Good
You should try it sometime!
I didn’t have much online access last week so I decided that Saturday night will be my online-upkeep project, I found my self getting almost all of the work done in 2 hours.
- Bought a Wordpress Template (Will be released for free on AlleNation soon!)
- More Shopping: I’m in talks with about 6 webmasters and will probably buy one or two sites in the next weeks. (More on smart website-shopping later this week! *subscribe*)
- Hired another writer: People who’ve been following for long enough know that my biggest blog currently gets 1/2 million pageviews a month and from now on it’s pretty much run on auto-pilot since I have 2 writers now who are competing for the editor-in-chief position.
- Email: Contacted some bloggers regarding the upcoming debut of AlleNation: The Podcast.
AlleNation: The Podcast, Yep!
Before I became so rusty and unfocused with my blogging I was against announcing new features before they were actually launched, but I figured that announcing AlleNation: The Podcast would actually force me to launch it, how about that?!
This is something I’ve been thinking about for long enough, already talked with a few online entreprenuers about being on the show and have regular appearances, so all we need to do is find a good time for us, build an interesting line-up together, and start rolling!
The only challenge would be keeping some kind of consistency, which I’m no doing so well lately. Who knows? maybe the new refreshing medium would bring a new spirit..

It’s been a while since I’ve done a real update about my online ventures, I hope these kind of posts will be more consistent from now on, when I was doing this before it kept me focused on my targets and I hope it will have the same effect now.
